Kong (HUI, Siu Kong) has been a creative for years in the fields of graphic communication and advertising in Hong Kong, working in major design and multi-national advertising agencies. In 2000 Kong won an IdN Asia Pacific Design Award. In 2003, Kongnection Graphics was set up till now.
Kong honed his creative flair, graphic design, calligraphy and lettering skills in Hong Kong Polytechnic Swire School of Design. In PolyDesign he learnt from the famous western calligrapher Mr Derick Pao and started his journey of western calligraphy and lettering.
Kong exhibited his calligraphy in recent years, including “Where Wind and Water Goes” (2018–2019) by Just Space, “Out of Touch” (2017–2018) by Just Space, “Walking Alone” (2017) Solo Exhibition in QingZuo Restaurant, “the eslite spectrum” Western Calligraphy Exhibition (2017), “Left Against Right” (2016–2017) by Just Space, “kong@sense99” Exhibition (2016), “Home Town” calligraffiti 2016, and all Alpha Beta Club Western Calligraphy annual exhibitions since 2005.
Apart from providing calligraphy and lettering services for commission, Kong has started to teach since 2015, hosting regular calligraphy courses for organisations like Alpha Beta Club, St James’ Settlement, Chinese Foundation Secondary School, Write The Future, and Zacca Dream; teaching handwriting for Montblanc; providing guest lectures for PolyU design students and short courses for Cartier Hong Kong staff. Kong also teaches privately on demand.
